Null Studio / Services
Experience design in Sydney
We design how people move through, understand and engage with physical environments. Null brings spatial design, wayfinding, graphics, lighting and digital content together for festivals, cultural events and brand experiences.
The experience starts before someone reaches a stage, installation or destination. Entrances, sightlines, signs and the spaces in between all shape how a place feels and how easily people can use it.
We work from the site and the audience: planning the arrival, routes, gathering spaces and key moments, then developing the forms, materials and visual details that connect them.
Our scope
Site concepts, spatial layouts and visitor journeys
Festival environments, stages and gathering spaces
Wayfinding, entrance structures and environmental graphics
3D visualisation and design development
Lighting concepts, motion and interactive elements
Site, stage and environmental design across the festival from 2020 to 2023, delivered through Department of Arts.
For an example of concept development, see Spotify Chromaseum, an unrealised experiential pitch developed while working at Popology.
From site plan to production
We begin with the site, audience, programme and practical constraints. Concepts and 3D studies help test scale and layout before the design moves into agreed drawings and artwork.
We collaborate with producers, fabricators, riggers and other specialists where required. Engineering, approvals, construction and installation responsibilities are agreed for each project.
You can also engage Null for design and visualisation alone, with your own production team delivering the work.
Start with the place
Share the site or venue, audience, programme, dates, budget range and any existing plans or identity. Tell us what should happen there and which parts of the experience need design support.
