Connex Wires
Connex Wires is an Auckland-based manufacturer of high-grade wiring harnesses for marine and automotive applications—from premium recreational boats to commercial fleets (including police vehicles). The brief was to realign the brand and website with the calibre of the product, and to build a digital toolkit (3D + motion) that could speak to enterprise ambitions and new sectors.

Challenge

Exceptional product, undersold presentation. Harnesses and switchboards are inherently technical and visually understated, yet needed to feel premium and desirable. Timeline and scope were tight (solo design → 3D → motion → web build over ~2–3 months), and the work required deep ramp-up on unfamiliar product details while keeping the story clear for multiple audiences.

Approach

Start with the product, make it shine, then build the brand around it. I worked closely with Henry (Connex) to structure messaging and user flows, keeping the visual language clean and minimal so the renders carried the story. In 3D, I rebuilt key SKUs (harnesses, looms, junctions, switchboards), using careful lighting, macro angles, and paced motion to elevate material quality and precision. On web, I designed and developed a sleek site with Lottie-driven scroll interactions—reveals, exploded views, and spec callouts—while keeping pages lightweight and scannable, with a full technical catalogue available for download.

Harness details.

Output

A complete 3D asset suite (hero models, stills, and motion), plus four 30-second hero films mapping core use cases—Commercial Marine, Commercial Automotive, Recreational Marine, Recreational Automotive—showing product integration in context. A new website (design + build) with interactive motion moments, clear sector pathways, and concise copy aligned to procurement and engineering needs.

A decisive brand facelift that finally matches Connex’s engineering quality: premium visuals, clear sector narratives, and an interactive website that converts interest into enquiry. The system scales—assets can be repurposed for bids, sales decks, and trade events—positioning Connex credibly for larger contracts and new categories.
